Independent Support Coordinator

I’m a friendly and efficient support coordinator servicing the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Northern Rivers and Remote Areas.

With a background of over three decades in technology, web development, network engineering and project management, my attention to detail can better assist you to find the best solutions for your plan.

I specialise in the use of assistive technologies in the disability sector, along with providing low cost cyber security audits for sole trader support workers and support coordinators, bringing them into compliance with NDIS requirements for transit and storage of participant data.

A support coordinator or specialist support coordinator delivers support coordination services. There are three levels of support coordination that can be included in your plan:

  • Support connection – This support is to build your ability to connect with informal, community and funded supports enabling you to get the most out of your plan and pursue your goals.
  • Support coordination – coordination of supports: This support will assist you to build the skills you need to understand and use your plan. A support coordinator will work with you to ensure a mix of supports are used to increase your capacity to maintain relationships, manage service delivery tasks, live more independently and be included in your community.
  • Specialist support coordination – This is a higher level of support coordination. It is for people whose situations are more complex and who need specialist support. A specialist Support Coordinator will assist you to manage challenges in your support environment and ensuring consistent delivery of service.

You may also wish to focus on a specific goal in your NDIS plan, such as those related to finding suitable home and living supports. You can use your support coordination funding to work with a support coordinator who has the skills, knowledge and experience to meet your specific needs.

Some important facts…

Support coordination funding may be included in your NDIS plan. Funds for support coordination are provided to pay for the services of a Support Coordinator to help you to:

  • understand and manage your NDIS plan and budgets,
find and engage the right services, supports, and community connections to achieve your goals
  • navigate tricky intersects with other services systems that are not funded by the NDIS but relevant to your life and wellbeing
  • coordinate referrals, assessments, and quotes
  • manage problems that may arise around your plan, budgets, services and supports,
prepare for scheduled and unscheduled plan reviews
  • build your knowledge, skills and ability to take greater control over your own plan, budgets
  • services and supportget the most out of your funding so you get the most out of your life.

Support coordinators do this with you by:

  • listening to you about what you need and want
  • learning from others who know you well (when appropriate)thinking creatively and innovatively
  • being knowledgeable about the NDIS
  • having strong networks in community
  • being person-centred and solutions-focused.

How do you choose the right Support Coordinator for you?

Every support coordinator has unique experiences, skills, knowledge, and qualifications, depending on their professional, educational, and personal background. This means that not all support coordinators will be equally well suited to you and your support needs.

To make the most of the (limited) time you have with your support coordinator, it is helpful to ask relevant questions before choosing your support coordinator. For example, you may like to ask about the support coordinator’s professional background, how long they have been a support coordinator, their current capacity and workload, their location and working hours, and if they engage in professional development actives to maintain their knowledge and skills.

How much does Support Coordination cost?

I provide Support Coordination, Level 2. My fees and charges are in accordance with the relevant NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue.
